The $400 price does not however. and maybe 16 pounds, but thats not our cup of tea.We are happy with the Bose and enjoying it right now, it is light, attractive, and the sound is a pleasure to hear, but we now have no extra money left this month for anything else. This product does everything we wanted from it. It is hard to believe, when a low end product like ihome costs $100, and also offers a radio and a clock, that no one can make a product close to the Bose for around $250.Oh yes, the excellent sounding zeppelin is available at $600. So you have to really want this product above other things. Among portables there seemed to be little choice, either Klipsch, ihome or this. The others were not worth listening to, but the Bose sound put smiles on our faces.

I do not have an Ipod. You have a new fan. They could not believe the quality of the music. It will not vibrate your glass off the table but the lows are low & smooth enough to make you say WOW. My cousin had one of these at the beach recently.
I know the price hurts, but the pain goes away after 3 songs. How can such a small speaker make that much music. Thank You Bose. I LOVE it. I have a Creative Zen M. The Bose Sound Dock does not sound like a speaker in a plastic box.
People kept walking up the beach to us wanting to know "where is that music coming from. His answer was "I don't know ask BOSE". It has amazing, natural sound and the bass is incredible for such a small package. It sounds amazing and I don't see anything." He pulled up the small beach towel and the Bose was under it. It sounds awesome. I bought one as soon as I got home.

Why can't the big block be inline rather than at the plug.Negative: I can't use my iPhone 3G on the dock unless I put it into airplane mode - because if I don't, there is this awful popping sound. The fact that it isn't is disappointing to me.Overall, I won't return it. I really like a system as unobtrusive as this - I can bring it into any room or out on the deck. Yes yes, I can use the iPhone via the aux input, but then I can't use the functionality of the remote. I really really wanted this to work out in a way that let me give this product a higher review.
And I can't charge the iPhone that way. The sound is really incredible considering the size. I think that after all this time the product should be ready for 3G. I like it a lot - but it doesn't earn more than 3 stars because of the 3G issue. Also when I use the iPhone IN airplane mode on the dock it behaves oddly. I press play and the previous playlist plays - yet the art on the screen is for the artist I chose.
I'm a fan of Bose - their stores have smart staff, the products are usually well designed, ergonomic, stylish.Starting out with the positives, which outweigh the negatives: it truly is portable. The remote is functional, sturdy. Bizarre. I love that. For example: I select an artist whose songs I want to play via the iPod interface. Why oh why does it have to have such a large footprint right at the outlet.
It is easy peasy. Overall it is a nice looking product.Neutral: I am not impressed by the design of the charger cable.
